VIET NAM SHRIMP UPDATE AMID COVID RESURGENCE ON AUG 14, 2021

I/ Viet Nam Covid update until Aug 14, 2021
* Total infected cases in Viet Nam so far: 255.695
* Total death cases so far: 5.088
* Total recovered cases: 92.738
* Total cases under treatment: 157.873
* Total infected cases in HCM so far: 140.539 => HCM local government announced extension the lockdown one month more until Sep 16
* Infected cases in provinces of Mekong delta where shrimp farming and processing so far, new infected cases still have risen in this week. On Aug 16 is to expire the current lockdown but not sure the provinces continue the lockdown more or not?

II/ Shrimp harvesting & operation of factories
 
In general, the situation of this week is still as same as last week 31
 
* Farmers are still facing with harvesting, selling and buying feeds, post larva, chemicals…for their farming because of restrictions of social distancing. The farmers still complain the low selling prices but not too low like last week
 
* Agents are still facing with lacking of workers for harvesting and transporting shrimp raw materials through checkpoints and interprovincial movement
 
* Factories are still lamenting with the difficulties of “3 on-site” implementation and “holding their breaths” to listen the local authorities extend the lockdown after Aug 16 or not!
 
In this week, the shrimp prices are less pressure thank to factories partly vaccinated for their workers and Southern provinces vaccinated for local people too, so the prices become stable or even slightly go up at weekend. However; this up-tick trend looks like volatile if the provinces extend the lockdown and Covid cases continue to rise
 
III/ Buying prices
 
* Black tiger: the buying prices are unchangeable compared with last week 31

20 pcs/kg ~ 225.000 vnd/kg, 40 pcs/kg ~ 170.000 vnd/kg, 60 pcs/kg ~ 135.000 vnd/kg
 
* Vannamei: the prices of Vannamei were stable through the week, even the trend is up tick at the weekend but the average prices considered stably

40 pcs/kg ~ 114.000 vnd/kg, 80 pcs/kg ~ 82.000 vnd/kg, 100 pcs/kg ~ 70.000 vnd/kg
