A PROMISING START FOR SHRIMP SECTOR AFTER TET HOLIDAY

Viet Nam has just finished TET holiday, some factories and companies already resumed working on last Friday (Feb 4) and many is resuming working in early this week 06. According to leaders of factories in Soc Trang province, they are hiring many local workers after the holiday to enlarge processing halted by Covid’s restrictions in last year, this move is also to take advantage the workforces had returned home when Covid waves swept in HCM city and neighboring provinces.
 
For farming situation (semi-intensively, intensively & super-intensively), mostly farmers will stock the main crop after the holiday and lasting in next Feb and Mar. Well, the harvesting still remain little at the present moment and gradually increasing the harvesting from next April, May and June.

For extensive-farmed shrimp (mainly BT shrimp, and some white shrimp), this time has already started harvesting in Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang where the extensive farming model and integrated with rice/mangrove forest models mostly occupy majority of farming lands. 

After four consecutive weeks Vannamei prices dropped, then the prices have bounced up back. In early week 6, Vannamei is trading at the following prices (farm-gate prices):

20 pcs/kg: 236,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 10.50 usd/kg)
25 pcs/kg: 177,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 7.90 usd/kg)
30 pcs/kg: 163,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 7.20 usd/kg)
40 pcs/kg: 143,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 6.40 usd/kg)
50 pcs/kg: 129,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 5.70 usd/kg)
60 pcs/kg: 118,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 5.20 usd/kg)
70 pcs/kg: 112,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 5.00 usd/kg)
100 pcs/kg: 92,000.0 vnd/kg (~ 4.10 usd/kg)

Covid pandemic in Viet Nam is also easing day by day, transportation and traveling during and after TET has been becoming much easier. There are thousands of people traveled and visited local tourism sites so it brings new living atmosphere for the hospitality sector, also inspire other sectors to live again. Government is also considering to welcome foreign visitors soon without isolation after arrivals, this move is to make the tourism sector recover step by step and welcome foreign investors/businessmen come back Viet Nam in soonest time.
