SHRIMP RAW MATERIAL PRICES ON FEBRUARY 28, 2021 IN MEKONG DELTA

The current prices of raw material shrimp in Mekong delta 

The prices of Vannamei after strongly dropped before TET holiday then backed to rise up recently, the reasons could explain like these

+ Before TET, even harvesting was very little but the prices still dropped because main markets like Japan, EU and US bought enough shrimp for end-year holidays and Covid-19 pandemic in these countries were surging as well

+ Normally China market buys a lot before TET because they need shrimp for Chinese new year. However; beginning of this year 2021, China market is very quiet for frozen shrimp because people was scary with Covid-19 viruses on surfaces of packaging as their government released information. But right after Chinese new year, China market is changing quickly, shrimp prices are going up sharply because people are getting more confident with frozen shrimp, and fresh shrimp and other seafood are quite expensive

+ The global shrimp market is getting more confident in 2021. In reality, selling of shrimp in 2020 was not affected heavily by Covid-19 pandemic, still dropping in prices, production and consumption but not much like the previous prediction

The prices of BT shrimp has increased after TET holiday because of stronger demand but lacking of raw material, please see the prices at the bottom
