Prices of Vannamei shrimp in Mekong are going down

Prices of Vannamei shrimp in Mekong delta are going down after sharply increased by end of Dec and some days in early new year 2020. This reduction is absolutely reasonable after some big import markets such as Japan, EU and US have just finished Christmas and new year holiday, other markets like China, South Korea also stocked enough for consumption of new year holiday will take place by the end of Jan, 2020.

Prices of Black tiger shrimp are still being stable, not change compared with last week 

20pcs/kg: 270,000 VND/kg ~ 11.68 USD/kg

30pcs/kg: 190,000 VND/kg ~ 8.22 USD/kg

40pcs/kg: 156,000 VND/kg ~ 6.75 USD/kg

50pcs/kg: 125,000 VND/kg ~ 5.40 USD/kg

60pcs/kg: 105,000 VND/kg ~ 4.54 USD/kg

Harvesting of shrimp in Mekong Delta/Viet Nam is being low, farmers are upgrading farms for new crop in 2020. This year 2020, sea water is coming to mainland earlier than last year 2019 and salinity is being at good level 5 - 16‰ for stocking, and some farmers are moving fast to stock post larvae again.

Predictably, shrimp market will be warm again in March and April, 2020 and possibly prices of shrimp will be low as in 2019. Shrimp prices in 2019 were low from March to September because of the following reasons: competition with Indian shrimp, stock remained in 2018, restriction of import from China, US-China trade war.
