Soc Trang will stock 51,000 hectares of brackish water shrimp in 2022
Soc Trang shrimp farmers have started brackish water shrimp farming in 2022 with a stocking plan of 51,000 hectares.
Towards a successful farming season, the functional sector of Soc Trang province has made recommendations and orientations on the timing of stocking, replicating effective shrimp farming models, applying science and technology, thereby, until the brackish water shrimp farming season 2022 continues to reap success.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang province, in the past year, brackish water shrimp farming reached 53,000 hectares, exceeding 3.9% of the plan, up nearly 2.5% over the same period. In which, vannamei shrimp 40,000 ha (accounting for 75.5% of the farming area) and black tiger shrimp 13,000 ha. The area of intensive and semi-intensive shrimp farming accounted for 93.7%, shrimp damage accounted for less than 6%.
Soc Trang agriculture industry and shrimp farmers also said that, in general, the shrimp farming season in 2021 has been basically successful in terms of area and output plan, while the damage rate is not much. This is a positive signal and has effectively promoted the production direction and disease prevention of the agricultural sector.
Mr. Tran Quang Can, Director of Hung Phu Fisheries Cooperative, Cu Lao Dung district, said: "Thanks to the stocking schedule for farmers, it is possible to avoid extreme weather and stocking at the right time for shrimp to grow well".
And Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, manager of shrimp farming area, Vina Clean Seafood Company, Soc Trang province said: "I raise this model of lined ponds, disease prevention, and then shrimp quality can be better".
According to the Fisheries Sub-Department of Soc Trang province, this year's time frame for brackish water shrimp stocking in the province will start from January 10 and will end on September 30. In which, for whiteleg shrimp from January 10 to September 30 and black tiger shrimp from March 10 to September 30. Particularly for enterprises and large-scale farming farms capable of meeting the requirements of farming conditions, intensive and semi-intensive farming models, applying high technology, raising two or more stages can be arranged. Spread crops all year round but need to actively reserve water, raise water, have solutions to deal with adverse weather.
Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh-Deputy Head of Sub-Department, Fisheries Sub-Department of Soc Trang province, added: "For functional sectors, there have been instructions to strengthen the management of farming areas. Strictly follow the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development about standards, techniques, as well as environmental protection, both to ensure effective farming and to ensure a good farming environment.
Soc Trang has set a target this year to raise brackish water shrimp on 51,000 hectares with an output of 196,000 tons. To achieve this goal, the locality will concentrate small farming households together into cooperatives, groups of cooperatives in the direction of concentration, cooperation into large raw material production areas associated with enterprises supplying input materials associated with the consumption market along the value chain. Promote the replication of high-tech farming models in association with ecological environment protection, climate change adaptation, production cost reduction, etc. to improve value and develop sustainably.
Soc Trang wins shrimp farming 2021
Regarding this issue, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nha, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang province said: “The industry will focus on transforming from an agricultural production mindset to an agricultural economic mindset that focuses on improving high value and production efficiency of the shrimp industry. At the same time, strengthen the development of growth models, the application of digital transformation, as well as the application of science and technology to production to replicate efficient production models, such as the two-phase, three-phase models, then super-intensive farming models, applying high technology to production to bring about economic efficiency.
Besides, will produce in a safe and clean way, to achieve export standards in the best way, improving the value and competitiveness of shrimp."
Currently, the province has more than 4,000 hectares of shrimp farming according to the model of lined ponds and production models in the direction of intensive farming, super intensive farming and high technology. In addition to replicating effective production models, Soc Trang also pays special attention to the coordination between the parties: the state, producers, enterprises and associations. At the same time, continue to work towards safe and responsible production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, ASC standards... to improve product quality and meet the increasing requirements of the consumer market.
